The resulting 1-(4-bromophenyl)-7-methyl-5-thia-1,5-diazepine-2,4-dione can undergo benzoylation and debenzylation to yield bromazolam. Alternatively, bromazolam can be synthesized from the reaction of 2-amino-5-methylthiazole with 7-bromo-1,3-dihydro-5-phenyl-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one in the presence of potassium carbonate.
