B12 1000mcg per ml x 30ml
Vitamin B12, aka Methylcobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin involved in metabolism. The most common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency in 1st world countries is absorption impairment due to a loss of gastric intrinsic factor (IF) which must bind to a food-source of B12 in order for absorption to occur. A second major cause is age-related decline in stomach acid production (achlorhydria), because acid exposure frees protein-bound vitamin.
How B12 works:
B12 is one of eight B vitamins. It required by animals, which use it as a cofactor in DNA synthesis, and in both fatty acid and amino acid metabolism. Therefore, it is important in the normal functioning of the nervous system via its role in the synthesis of myelin. It is also important in the circulatory system in the maturation of red blood cells in the bone marrow.
- helps keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy and helps make DNA
- helps prevent a type of anemia called megaloblastic anemia that makes people tired and weak
